Meet The Associates

Heidi Taylor - Voice - Heidi attended Brigham Young University on a Musical Dance Theater scholarship and graduated with a BS in Human Development. Performing opportunities have taken her all over the US as well as Japan, China and Hong Kong. She has had leading roles and toured with over 30+ community to professional shows. She has worked for years as a studio vocalist and her voice can currently be heard on tracks for Prosound on itunes. Heidi has also worked in film and television and has appeared on such shows as: Touched by an Angel, Dr. Vegas, and the Late Show with David Letterman. Former students have appeared in all three of the High School Musical movies, So You Think You Can Dance, and American Idol. Heidi is married and has 2 children.

Adam Young - Drums - Adam been playing drums since 1988, and started teaching in 1998. He studied at VCU and JSR, and specializes in many styles of drum set and snare drum. He teaches beginner to advanced level students. Adam has played with many bands in the Richmond area, and he currently plays with The Matt Koon Foundation. Marlysse Simmons - Piano
Marlysse earned her degree in Piano from The University of Maryland. She has taught since 2000, and has played professionally in several bands throughout the DC and Richmond area. She is currently playing and composing with BioRitmo (See www.bioritmo.com). She teaches all styles of piano, and she uses composition as a tool in her teaching.

David Tetlow - Guitar
David teaches mostly rock, and some classical, from beginner to advanced. He's been playing since 1966 and has been in several bands, one of which was 'My Uncle's Old Army Buddies'. He's currently playing with "The English Channel."  He studied music at VCU, and he also does some composing. When not playing guitar, he spends way too much time on the computer, reading about volcanoes, earthquakes and plate tectonics.

Frank Phillips - Guitar, Bass, Piano, Drums, Trumpet
Frank has been a full-time teacher for over 8 years.  He studied music at Berry College and spent several years before and after college performing with The Premiers and Perry Hayes and the Institution on the local and state bar circuit.  He loves all kinds of music but leans toward improvisational styles.  He is currently writing and recording his own works.  Frank is married and has a daughter.
David Paul - Piano, Guitar and Bass
David teaches all styles including jazz, blues, country, rock and classical. He played lead guitar in several working bands during the 70's through the 90's. He was lead guitarist/vocalist for Al Chenault's "High Country" band, and lead guitarist/vocalist for "The Dixie Bandits". He has written numerous songs and over 60 poems. He is published in the International Library of Poetry's "Who's Who In Poetry" 2004, and 2006 editions. (See www.poetry.com) He's married and has a son. David is also a professional working magician, and is currently a member of the 3 piece acoustic band "Shady Pickers."




Sheena Wade - Piano
Sheena has a diverse musical background. She has played keyboards for the widely known Richmond-based band 59H2O. She studied at VCU under , and she also plays . Sheena is accepting beginner to intermediate students, and she teaches all styles of music. In her spare time, she enjoys composing, and
spending time with daughter and husband.







Constance Sisk - Cello, Viola, Guitar
Constance is primarily a cellist, and has been playing for almost 20 years.  She graduated from the College of William & Mary in the Spring of 2008 with a BA in music, and a concentration in ethnomusicology.  She plays regularly with area songwriters Rachel Leyco and Ben Shirley, and is a member of the indie rock band Nick Coward and The Last Battle, and a world music fusion quartet called The Eastern Question.  She also sits in on occasion with long-time Richmond bands Rattlemouth and The Atkinsons.

Jonathan "Jon Boy" Nielsen - Piano
Jon has been been playing piano for almost 20 years.  He grew up in Las Vegas, and there he earned an  Associate's Degree in Music from the College of Southern Nevada.  He studied ear training, music theory, music history and performance.   He has played in a variety of settings and styles ranging from classical piano recitals to jazz gigs to funk bands. He teaches beginner to early advanced students, and he holds 2 recitals per year. He is currently working on finishing his Bachelors of Music in Jazz Piano Performance at VCU. 


Daniel Brown - Piano
Daniel Brown is an accomplished musician with a degree in Piano Performance from VCU Music, studying with Sonia Vlahcevic, Landon Bilyeu, and Melissa Marrion. He offers professional instruction which integrates classical technique with music theory, history, and repertoire. His teaching methods are adaptive and suit each student individually. He has recorded multiple CDs of classical music and his own arrangements, and has been a part of roughly 100 piano recitals.
